Women United Luncheon for Literacy | March 21, 2024

Brings the community together to celebrate the power of women, and to support the youngest learners in our community by raising funds to invest in early literacy through Women United’s signature program, Preschool Pages.  Literacy is the building block for all learning. Children who are not reading on grade level by fourth grade will likely face challenges with poverty, the justice system, obtaining a job, and more. An early start gives a child the best chance for success. Early experiences with books, stories and words make a difference in student success. Preschool Pages provides these important early literacy experiences.

Your sponsorship will provide young children the building blocks they need for a brighter future, while enhancing your brand and demonstrating your commitment to serving our community.

Annual Meeting | Fall 2024

Attended by United Way of Pickens County's donors, volunteers, friends, partners, and other community members, and celebrates all of the people and organizations who make change happen in Pickens County through United Way.

Two levels are available:

1. Presenting Sponsor | $1,000 (limit 1): Opportunity to speak at event, reserved table with 6 seats, special mention at event, and special mention/logo on all marketing and post-event materials

2. Event Sponsor | $500: Reserved table with 6 seats, special mention at event, and special mention/logo on all marketing and post-event materials

Camp iRock

A partnership between United Way of Pickens County, the School District of Pickens County, the YMCA of Easley, Pickens and Powdersville, and Call Me MiSTER, Camp iRock is an innovative and award winning summer program which helps children improve their reading abilities in an enriching summer camp environment. In the spring, the School District of Pickens County identifies students who could use a boost in their reading abilities and sends their families an invitation to attend Camp iRock.

Preschool Pages

Preschool Pages is a partnership with local elementary schools to support the development of early literacy skills in preschoolers in the community. Young children and their caregivers participate in story time and related crafts and activities which helps these young learners develop important early literacy skills while learning that school is a safe and nurturing place. You can support children by donating books or funds for books, ensuring that each child can take a book home from the program to build their own age-appropriate home library.

Financial Literacy and Coaching

Financial literacy and coaching is provided to all ages in a variety of formats. Pathways is a one-on-one intensive financial coaching program where participants work with a coach for 6-18 months. Financial literacy workshops and classes are also taught to families and individuals of all ages and are adapted accordingly. Examples of topics covered in coaching sessions and workshops include budgeting, credit, debt, taxes, and asset-building.
