Empathy in Action Volunteers

Volunteers are needed for an interactive simulation event to raise awareness of the challenges faced by those experiencing substance use disorders or mental health conditions.

Tuesday, October 29

1:30-4:00 p.m.

Southern Wesleyan University

University Dining Commons, The Founders

This role play simulation activity allows participants to gain a deeper understanding of the lives of those living with substance use disorders, mental health conditions, unstable employment, and other concerns, and how they interact with and navigate structures and systems within our community. Participants will play a character in a household and be provided with background information and instructions on different actions they can take in the lives of their character.

Volunteers will check-in participants, role play as a service providers within the community, and participate in the final household discussions.

There will be a 30 minute virtual orientation the week prior to the event. Orientation will be available in the morning and evening.
