August is National Make a Will Month

Did you know that August is National Make a Will Month?

According to a recent study by CNBC, 67% of American adults do NOT have a will. The South Carolina Bar says that if you die without a will, your property and your surviving family's affairs will be governed by the choices reflected in the statute law of the state of South Carolina. Those choices may not be your choices.

There are several important reasons why you should have a will:

•    A Will Provides Security: Creating your will and estate plan allows you to communicate important financial and healthcare decisions, so that you’re prepared for whatever the future may hold.

•    A Will Provides Peace of Mind: A will allows you to provide for the people and pets you love, so you know that no matter what, they will be provided for.

•    A Will Provides an Opportunity to Make a Lasting Impact: By including a legacy gift to United Way of Pickens County in your will, you can help sustain our efforts to serve and help those in need in our community for generations to come.

United Way of Pickens County is providing our supporters an opportunity to create a complimentary will, thanks to United Way’s partnership with FREE WILL. Click here and in 20 minutes, you will have created a will that you can print and keep with your important papers. You may want to schedule an appointment with a local attorney to review your will, and to ensure that your will properly documents your wishes.
